Level 2 Swimming Teacher Applied Learning Model

A new approach to developing Swimming Teachers built around structured, experience-led practice - delivered safely, progressively, and in line with the realities of day-to-day operations.

Teach Sooner. Teach Safer. Teach Better.

The Applied Learning Model is designed for organisations looking to develop confident, work-ready swimming teachers through real poolside practice within their own programme and pool environment.

Rather than removing staff from operations to train, this model integrates learning into the workplace — allowing candidates to develop their skills progressively, under supervision, whilst working towards full Level 2 certification.

TLEQ level 2 swimming teacher is the only UK and Ireland iTEC and VTCT endorsed swimming teacher qualification

The Pathway

A Structured Four-Stage Journey

Taking candidates from no prior experience through to full Level 2 certification. Each stage builds progressively on the last, combining structured tutor-led learning with real poolside practice within your own environment.

1. Entry to Level 2 Qualification

No prior teaching experience required. Candidates can enter the programme at the start of their teaching journey.

2. Core Teaching Foundations

Developing safety, supervision, and structured delivery skills through tutor-led learning, delivered online and/or face-to-face.

3. Probationary Swimming Teacher

Supervised teaching practice alongside ongoing training, delivered within your own programme and pool environment.

4. Level 2 Swimming Teacher

Fully qualified and certified for independent teaching.
